Here's a short clip I just found in my files showing stock removal on my giant (31' tall) St. Anthony sculpture from 2007. You'll see Peter Anthony, Mike Weichmann, and Dennis Jaspersen chainsawing huge blocks of styrofoam. I appreciate the loads of help I had on this project. This was a project which I subcontracted for American Artstone in New Ulm, MN. Click here to see the project on their site. They also feature my St. James Public Library sculptures at this link (bottom left thumbnail).
I've never made the trip to see the St. Anthony sculpture installed in Carroll, Iowa, but my parents recently took a detour on a drive to Wyoming. They brought back these photos.
See more images of the making of this sculpture at this Flickr album.
For those of you familiar with New Ulm... if Hermann (the German) Cheruski would lower his arm, St. Anthony would be taller head to toe. Hermann is reportedly 32' from sword tip to toe. More info on the Hermann monument here.
